Chuck "Hawk" Smessaert has been an avid Gun and Hunt enthusiast his entire life. First enjoying the outdoors as a young boy with his father and other family, in adulthood Hawk has travelled, hunted, and bagged world-class trophies across the world. With a crack shot, "hawk" eye, and years of experience, Hawk commands successful hunts several times a year. A long-time member of Safari Club, Ducks Unlimited, and National Wild Turkey Federation, Hawk has helped define and uphold the hunt traditions and standards of these respected organizations during his personal and booked hunts.
As a Certified Firearm Expert and Gun Safety Instructor with decades of experience, Hawk also offers Have Gun Will Travel clientele the knowledge, training, and leadership ability to confidently learn and master Gun Safety and Defense themselves. Being an NRA Endowment member, NRA YHEC Coordinator for Georgia, and Georgia DNR certified Gun Safety and Firearm Expert, provides Hawk instant credentials and well-respected qualifications to deliver exceptional, in-depth, hands-on Firearm Training to individuals wishing to increase their expertise and safety skills.
Having "retired" from the working world over 10 years ago, Hawk has settled in the Smokey Mountain Range near Sautee Georgia. With the great outdoors surrounding his dream home, the love and passion of the lifetime outdoor enthusiast continues to grow. As an active member in the Amateur Trapshooting Assocation, National Skeet Shooting Association, National Sporting Clays Assocation and numerous local and national gun clubs including Brush Creek, Northbrook, Cherokee, and Elberton, Hawk continues to compete in the sport of Trap Shooting and has recently focused on competing in Sporting Clays, already mastering the unique challenges of this sport by adding the selection to the 2003 Georgia All-State Team as Super Veteran to his list of competive Trap Shooting accomplishments. When not competing, Hawk provides Safety Training to youth and adults, works the fields and woods with his dogs, donates his time to the local soup kitchen, and continues to write his first book based on his lifetime of hunting experiences.
